This five-day certification program provides officers with a thorough understanding of the following breaching methods:
- Mechanical (Gas-Powered Saw)
- Ballistic (Shotgun Breaching)
- Exothermic (Torches/Heat)
- Hydraulic
- Manual (Ram, Halligan, Sledge)
- Surreptitious (Lock-Picking or Silent Breaching)
Officers will test out on each method to obtain the Tactical Breacher Certification. Testing includes scenario-based training under stress and simulated “worst case scenario” situations.
Required Equipment
- FX/Simunition Pistol
- FX/Simunition Blue Bolt for Rifle
- 500 Rounds of FX/Simunition Paint Rounds
- FX/Simunition Protective Gear
- Department Issued Breaching Equipment (i.e. Halligan, Ram, Saw, etc.)
- Ear Protection
- Eye Protection
- Clothing Appropriate for Weather Conditions
- Department Issued Vest
- Training NFDD’s (If Available)
